We’re taking a break from podcasting this week to prepare for our visit to PodCamp Halifax next weekend. We hope you can join us and if not, we’ll have at least one episode from PodCamp Halifax when we return.

Cheers,

Connie & Eden

The excitement (a.k.a. craziness) of the season has taken over, and we have decided to take a break from podcasting this weekend. Our next episode won't be for another week or two.

In the meantime, we wish you, your friends, family and others in your communities all the best of this holiday season!

Cheers,

Connie & Eden

Following this week's Community Divas episode, Amrita Chandra has continued the discussion over on her blog tinku tales. She expands on her ideas about community building and how she is building community around tinku gallery.

A quick take:
  1. Start with who you know.
  2. Make it a two-way conversation.
  3. Provide an environment for the community to grow.
  4. Give and take.
  5. Be yourself.
You will have to read the blog post for her full discussion.

Thank you for continuing the conversation, Amrita!

Eden and I travelled to Montréal this weekend to attend Podcamp Montréal for social media mavens. We were learning a lot more about podcasting, caught up with old friends, and made new ones. We also wanted to support the burgeoning podcaster community in Montréal by presenting the bit that we know about podcasting: how to get started! It is not the same as being there, but we hope you enjoy our slides below.  I've added in things we noted during the session to make them a little more complete.

Congratulations to the Montréal gang for a very successful Podcamp!!

Cheers, Connie

Welcome to Community Divas, a podcast about communities with hosts Eden Spodek and Connie Crosby.

Eden Spodek is the woman behind the ever-so-pink but not-for-women-only shopping blog Bargainista. In 2001, she launched Yabber.net, YTV’s first online community for tweens. Eden is passionate about social media and community building and put her passion to work as a member of the PodCamp Toronto organizing team and regular contributor to One Degree, a Canadian marketing industry blog. She’s been working in digital communications since 1995.

Connie Crosby is a law librarian and consultant specializing in social media. She blogs at conniecrosby.blogspot.com and is a core contributor to the Canadian law blog Slaw. She started her consulting firm Crosby Group Consulting in February 2008, and also teaches social networking tools to information professionals through the Professional Learning Centre at the Faculty of Information, University of Toronto. Connie works with Eden as a member of the PodCamp Toronto organizing team. She has been participating in online communities since 1986.
